Signs to Look for in a Quality Builder

If you’re in the market for a new home, you should shop for your builder as carefully as you shop for your home. You want to know that you are buying a good quality home from a reputable builder. Here are some tips to help you choose a builder.

Do your Homework

With the internet at your fingertips, research properties to consider, know where you want to live and how much it should cost.

Expect a partner in your home building process, Customer service is King! You want valid, actionable information and the quicker your builder can serve you the better.

Technology matters.  Apps and websites will provide you information on the go and keep you up to date with details about your home process. At DB Homes we utilize Co-Construct. It is a secure website that allows the homeowner to access their home’s information all in one place.  Whether you are at home, at work, on the road, or on vacation, DB Homes put information at your fingertips, about your selections, upgrades, financial decisions, questions, documents, photos and more.

Peer Reviews.  In addition to what you find online, ask your parents, friends and co-workers for insight on your home search.  Check out websites for up to date testimonials (http://db-homes.com/category/testimonials/) and check social media (We are on facebook and twitter as DBHomesInc) to see if your builder has an active presence.

Shop for Quality and Value

Look at new homes whenever you can. Home shows and open houses sponsored by builders are good opportunities to look at homes. Model homes are often furnished to give you ideas for using the space. You may also ask a builder to see unfurnished homes.

When examining a home, look at the quality of the construction features. Inspect the quality of the cabinetry, carpeting, trimwork and paint. Ask the builder or the builder’s representative a lot of questions. Get as many specifics as possible. Never hesitate to ask a question. What seems like an insignificant question might yield an important answer.  Listed below are just some of the standard features that come in every DB Home:
