Amazing Design Trends
It’s certain there is a big demand for luxurious amenities and modern design. When a home buyer looks for a home, they typically have a list of must haves, like gourmet kitchens, en suite bathrooms and elegant, “high-end” finishes. A common misconception with modular building is the lack of design choices. Some people equate modular with standard. This is just not true at D.B. Homes. we have an interior designer on staff that works hard to ensure the latest “trends” are available to our D.B. Home customers. As well as engineers and architects that allow our modular homes to offer wider, more open floor plans than ever before. Take a look at some of the hottest trends home buyers are looking for.
A luxury bathroom can be a big selling point when it comes to buyer decisions. There was a time when the jacuzzi tub reigned as king in the bathroom, however, in recent years a shower is what can steal the show. Also, freestanding bathtubs are back in, acting almost as “sculptures” in a bathroom. At D.B. Homes we’ve noticed a fundamental shift in the way home owners are approaching their bathroom layouts – especially when it comes to the master bathroom. For many people, combination tub/showers are no longer desirable. Instead, home owners are opting for separate, more elaborate showers and tubs. In response to this, D.B. Homes offers our exclusive “Infinity” Walk-In Shower packages, which are often paired with our popular claw foot tubs. This package includes a walk in design which eliminates a shower door or curtain making cleaning the shower much easier, ceramic wall tiles with mosaic glass tile accents, mosaic floor decking, a hand-held shower head, a rain-style shower head, built-in shampoo niches and a corner bench seat.
The Claw Foot Tub stands out and immediately demands your attention as you enter the room. The classic look of the Claw Foot Tub harkens back to the free-standing bath tubs of the early 1900s, yet offers a modern twist sought after by many home buyers today.
Functional, Modern Kitchens
Homebuyers are looking for open floor plan concept kitchens. This openness creates a more spacious flow, allowing interaction with family and guests while putting the finishing touches on your meal. With an open floor plan there’s room for everyone to sit comfortably around the kitchen and in the surrounding living spaces.
We are also seeing an increasing demand for cabinets with shaker style doors, complemented by sleek hardware, stylish countertops and glass tiles. Although many people still love natural wood cabinets, white or a “painted” cabinetry in varying colors are also becoming very popular. Especially when accompanied by a matching counter top.
It seems more customers are looking for options other than granite when considering countertops. Buying formica countertops that look like granite is a cost effective option some home owners are considering. Quartz is also a great look that is less porous and able to take the wear and tear over the years without losing it’s luster.
Flooring trends are moving back towards light, natural wood tones. While high sheen dark brown floors have dominated in recent years, now muted grays, whitewashed and neutral tone floors with minimum sheen are the most requested colors among homeowners. Brushed floors are trending in kitchens and will likely have staying power. This subtle texture can help hide imperfections and help minimize cleaning– not to mention a worn texture that feels great beneath bare feet. Wide planks will make your space feel larger by dramatically reducing the number of lines. This technique helps to simplify the room and create a relaxing, de-cluttered environment.
Muted Gray Color Pallette
Gray is proving to be the new staple neutral color. It provides a great design canvas to work with and makes the other colors really pop. Whether it is used in kitchens, bathrooms, wall color or floor color it looks like gray is here to stay!
Spacious Laundry Rooms
When you think of designing a home, you don’t necessarily think of the laundry room – but you should! Having your ideal laundry room can make the process easier and less of a chore. D.B. Homes offers Utility Room packages to help keep your laundry room clean and organized. Both of our packages offer a jacket rack, ironing board storage closet, corkboard “message center”, base cabinets with pull out trays and pull out hamper area, overhead laundry basket “cubby”, countertop folding station and double receptacle “charging station.”
Open Spaces and Clean Lines
Give your home some breathing room. We are are seeing that clients want their interiors to have a clean look. Some customers are opting for no living room instead merging the living room with other spaces to create a “great room” — a space that combines the family and living room and flows into the kitchen.
