5 Simple Steps to Building a DB Home

Home Building Budget:

Before you purchase a house you will need to develop an accurate home building budget that not only takes into consideration your finances but your priorities as well as your wants and needs. it is always smart to prequalify for a construction loan before you begin shopping for your new home. This will help you to understand how much you can afford to spend on your new home.

Selecting a DB Home:

it’s time to let fun begin and decide what design best fits your needs. We have over 280 floor plans to choose from, and our experienced DB team will help you personalize your home to meet all your needs. The first step in this process is deciding how many bedrooms do you need, how many bathrooms do you want, and what should my room sizes and dimensions be. The answer to these questions will determine the style and overall square footage of your home.

Signing a Contract:

Once we have your floor plan and quote finalized the only thing left to do is enter into a purchasing agreement also known as a construction contract. The contract is a legal document that specifies description of work, payment details, warranties and the standard terms and
conditions. is created and used to protect both parties during the building process. DB Homes strives to be as transparent as possible to ensure our customers know what they are purchasing.

Construction Schedule:

Once your loan is closed we order your home and begin to set up a timetable of when to expect the delivery, set and completion of your new home. Our home manufacturer typically takes 5-8 weeks to build approximately 85% of your home in their climate controlled factory. During this time period the on-site Work will be completed on your property to prepare the land for the house foundation. Once your home arrives it is typically set and weather tight within one day. Depending on the size of your home and if We are building other on site features such as garages, porches and decks our homes normally take 9-14 weeks to complete from the time you order until the time you move into your home.

Final Occupancy.

We complete a final walk through of the home between DB Homes and homeowner. This will assure that the quality and workmanship is completed. Remember this is not a home inspection but opportunity to discuss the condition of your home and schedule any final repairs that may be needed. After the final walk through has been completed and final payment has been made, it is time to request a final inspection from the local codes agency. Acquiring a certificate of occupancy is the final step in wrapping up your brand new DB Home.
